1. How Yoga Works

  1. A. We live in an urban environment but use jungle instincts; How do we override our instinctual reactions in the work environment? There are golden  opportunities to evolve our inner potential - evolve or else.  A underlying sense of feeling relaxed and calm allows us to attend to stress at the moment it happens, rather than ignoring stress until it has resulted in some sort of obvious disease process. We become pro-active instead of reactive - HABIT 1 of Stephan Covey’s best selling ‘7 Habits of Highly Effective People’.

  2. B. The Building blocks of the Universe; sattva, rajas, & tamas. How these principles affect you and more importantly - how others are affected by you.

  1. C. THe 10 Universal Principles; what are they and why follow them.

2.  Flow - Physical to Mental (60 minutes)

     A. Starting from dead body pose, everyone learns how to relax, breath and switch on the all important ‘awareness’, and can leave all their work duties aside to begin the practice.

    B. Reconnect mind to body with flowing yogic posters; Power Yoga

   C.  Culminate in pranayama (breathing techniques) to let go of stress and revitalize the mind with ‘prana’

3. Deep relaxation or Self-Hypnosis ( 15 minutes) ‘Yoga Nidra’

Go Deep

A. The consciousness assumes different forms during waking, dreaming and sleeping. In the raja yoga of Patanjali we call these forms vrittis or patterns of consciousness. The formation of consciousness is called awareness. Sleep is one type of awareness; memory is another. Similarly, yoga nidra is a very important form of awareness. In the raja yoga of Patanjali there is a state called pratyahara when mind and mental awareness are dissociated from the sensory channels. The perfection of pratyahara leads to concentration and then to meditation. Yoga nidra is one aspect or form of pratyahara. When one practices yoga nidra he is not asleep. His consciousness is functioning in a certain state of awareness.

B. This practice can also be used to assimilate information directly into the sub-conscious mind - subliminal learning.

C. When you are tired, you go to bed and think you are relaxing. But unless you are free from muscular, mental and emotional tensions, you are never relaxed. These threefold tensions have to be eliminated; then the actual state of relaxation dawns. The practice of yoga nidra will eliminate these threefold tensions
